231103 The Power of Contribution? It seems to be a common principle that the more you give, the more you receive. So if you want to receive more, it follows mathematically that you need to give more. All the successful people I personally know contribute a lot of their time and resources to adding value to the lives of those less fortunate than themselves. To illustrate, I will give a couple of real life examples: 1. My dear friend Surjit Bhalla, Independent Financial Advisor from Ashley Law http://www.business-ealing.co.uk/members/sbhalla.htm Contact him if you want to “make your future better than your yesterday” in terms of investing wisely…..also if you want to connect up with people willing to do “seva” for the community….”seva” means goodwill, altruistic service for the community and Surjit’s involvement with the Lion’s club is focussed on that. He invited me for a special Lion’s Club dinner this week and I sat next to a lady who was in the movie “Bend it Like Beckham”….you know I like glamour so I was well chuffed and enjoyed the opportunity to tell her that I was ALSO in a Ken Loach film, Ladybird Ladybird…..(I am the person carrying a yellow carrier bag when the van is swinging round with the protagonists speeding off with their children to escape the clutches of the social worker….well, you might not be able to recognise the blurred image but I assure you I was there J ) ….sorry for that irrelevant aside J….back to the subject of seva though…contact Surjit to find out what “seva” really means ….he was asked to make a speech about it at one of the local Gurdwaras and he’s talked about his fund raising activities on Panjab Radio so he must be quite an expert on the subject by now 2. There is another cool friend of mine who is an expert on the subject of seva….Arvind Devalia …..if you click on the following link you’ll see he looks pretty cool too! J http://www.lawyersgetalife.com/ (The drawback of having such a groovy picture on your web site is that people might not look at anything else but your photo Arvind J !! Not only has Arvind built up a reputation for being a great coach, he also supports a school based on charitable contributions. Cick here to see some very inspiring images: http://www.nirvanatrust.com/index.htm I received an e-mail from Arvind earlier this week in response to my questions in last week’s Success Newsletter….it was an inspiring message about how to contribute in times of crisis and tragedy….please contact Arvind at the above link if you are also a “contributor” and would like to know more about his work…..like myself, Arvind is a 60s child….flower power and nirvana and stuff J There are hundreds of very special people in my personal network now and I look forward to connecting you with the right person at the right time in a way that is fruitful….send me your news so I always have the most up to date information to share about you ….have an amazing week. |
