The Power of Focus and Vision

We launched the Her Business government project to help female entrepreneurs last Friday and I spoke with many would-be entrepreneurs from all walks of life and experiences. Many of these women are retired or coming up to their retirement (they want to start a business because their pension is too meagre and/or they don’t feel ready to give up on life just yet!) and many others have only recently left school. The key ingredient that will make them all successful is not the number of qualifications they have acquired or the number of blue-chip companies they have worked for…..no, no, no!!!…I coach many university graduates…please read this carefully if you are working towards your degree….it is your VISION and FOCUS that will make you successful….not the certificate…Bill Gates and Richard Branson are both great examples of people who dropped out of college because their vision of success was so strong they didn’t need to waste their time acquiring certificates….I am not recommending that you drop your studies of course….I am just making the point that it is easy to sense the level of success a client is guaranteed when they are focussed and have a strong vision of what they want to accomplish regardless of their age, experience or home environment. Unfortunately, I have many clients who are highly qualified and talented with no sense of direction or clear vision of how they want their life to turn out…they just seem to wait for the “lucky break” to fall into their lap.  A coach can only show you the colours you can use and advise you to paint on a clean canvass….they cannot paint the picture for you…..so what is the picture you have painted in your mind for your life and business? ….start with the end in mind.
