Interviews with an Intended Outcome
These tips are specially for one of my clients,
Angela, who has an interview this coming Friday
and I am sure they will be relevant and useful for
others even if the desired outcome is not exactly
success at an interview…the following simple tips
can be used to create success with ANY kind of
outcome.
-
Be very clear
about what you want….start with the end in
mind…..see the desired outcome exactly as you
wish it to be….when you decorate a cake or paint
a picture or build a house….you have to have the
finished product in mind before you start to
work on it. So decide how you want the interview
to progress…how do you want to be feeling during
and after…what do you want the company to say to
you at the end?
-
When the
desired outcome is very clear in your mind,
rehearse it in your mind….this is what athletes
and other sports people are trained to do before
they run in the Olympics or participate in
matches…they rehearse winning…..over and over
again in your mind…rehearse feeling confident,
successful and articulate for the interview.
-
On the day,
remember to breathe and relax….if you feel
yourself getting nervous, focus on your belly
and tell yourself to breathe and relax…..in
martial arts, we are taught to imagine we have
an invisible ball of energy around our solar
plexus, the belly area….imagine that you are
carrying a cauldron of golden or white light
that needs to be sustained with the power of
your breath….make sure this ball of energy keeps
spinning.
-
Smile and ask
yourself: What is the BEST thing that can happen
here?
-
Keep it that
simple.
