170205 Forever Plans How does today fit in with your forever plans? Do you sometimes wake up with a question and wonder who asked you that? One morning I woke up with the question “How does today fit in with your Forever Plans?” “Forever Plans?” I asked myself. Well, my life coaches over the past few years have been asking me for my monthly plans, yearly plans and at the most 20 year plans but no-one had ever asked me for my Forever Plans! The question seemed to come from another dimension; another plane of existence where we communicate with each other telepathically. It was as though my Aborigine friends with their culture of ‘circular time’ were reaching out to me across the oceans of time and space. I passed the question on to my Gallego friend: “So, what are YOUR Forever Plans?” I enquired. “Oh Lord! That is MUCH too far away to even think about!” he replied. “Far away?!” I heard my voice reply although it didn’t seem to be I who responded, with: “Forever is not far away. Forever is right here and now; this instant is Forever” My consciousness shifted as I realised that entering the dimension of “Forever” was perhaps the same as entering the dimension of “Now” When we are in the state of “now”, there is no past, present or future. Being in a state of timeless presence is like being in a state of “Forever”. When lovers meet and create their “magic moments” of timeless love and a “oneness” with each other that transcends the boundaries of space, they are in a space of “forever” or “eternity” or a kind of pure presence in the here and now if you like. How do our “Forever Plans” differ from our long-term plans, I asked. Is it merely that the latter are based on time whereas “Forever” is timeless? How can we have plans that are timeless? How can we go on journeys beyond time and space? I started to ask my friends my cool new “coaching question”: How does today fit in with your Forever Plans? Here we get into the field of religious beliefs and I realised that I was taking it for granted that everyone believes in the concept of immortality of the soul and that the physical body is shed and replaced just like the leaves on trees in a continual cycle of birth and death. It dawned on me that my question about “Forever Plans” would be inappropriate for people that believe solely in linear time and the ideology that there is no life after death; that our lives are finite, temporal creations that will blow away as ashes and dust into a void of emptiness when our bodies go past their ‘expire’ date. In India, when someone dies, it is said that they have ‘expired’ which I suppose is an attempt at being scientifically unemotional about the matter. What happens to our “Forever Plans” when our bodies have expired? This brought me deeper into the essence of my question and I wondered if there was a mysterious space in our being where all our Forever Plans are stored for eternity. Where is this space where our deepest desires, intentions and “Forever Plans” are stored? How do the so-called Laws of Attraction work in manifesting our Forever Plans? Is there a space of timeless creativity that we enter to apply the Laws of Attraction in order to manifest our Forever Plans magically and miraculously? What happens to all those things that we desire that do not get manifested? Is it because they are not part of our Forever Plan? When clients tell me about the goals they want to achieve, I help them to discover the underlying motive behind their desires by asking questions such as: What would __________ give you? What would be the purpose of ______________ in your life? How would _________________ serve you? If the questions are asked in a space of total relaxation and calm, the core answer to these questions inevitably illustrates a deep underlying desire for the ultimate experience of oneness with the universe. To feel the love of being at one and in peace with the universe captures the essence of the Forever Plan. Perhaps the question of “How does today fit in with your Forever Plans” could be rephrased as “How much are you investing in Love, Peace and Oneness with the Universe today?” Investment in Love & Peace is surely a plan although love and peace are beyond the constraints of time and space. Love and Peace permeate our very being at the inner and outer level and their essence must therefore permeate all our plans in the here and now and also forever. As I asked more and more people the very same question: “How does today fit in with your Forever Plans?” Instinctively, it seems, people talked about the love in their life. They talked about their families and their sense of connectedness with the world around them. “I didn’t even realise I had any Forever Plans” one of them told me “but looking around at my family and all the love I feel for them, I guess I do” Whenever I asked the question, it always came back full circle to love, peace and the “magic moments” created with our loved ones. Those magic moments that we feel are part of our Forever Plans and will therefore last an eternity. How often do you create “Forever Moments” with your loved ones? And, how does today fit in with your Forever Plans? In response to these questions, my Shaman friend Inti Cesar, e-mailed me from Cusco, the Inca capital of Peru, saying that “Forever Plans” sounded like his “commitment to a vision”….it is his “commitment to a vision” that has kept his wife and family together for decades and seen them through the trials and tribulations of modern lifestyles which have caused so many families around us to fragment. In order to keep a family together, there needs to be a “commitment to a vision” and obviously some fundamental questions need to be addressed for example “whose vision?” and “how is this vision created?” How can we create a “Forever Plan” based on a vision that we would be committed to Forever? Another friend e-mailed to say that he would like to see his ancestors and other departed heroes in the dimension of “Forever”. This reminded me that some people already do this on a daily basis. The “psychics” mediums” and “clairvoyants” seem to have skills in crossing the dimensions of time and space and I wondered how their “Forever Plans” appeared compared with those of us striving to achieve our goals and to make enough money to be free…..or at least to have the TIME to do whatever we like; whenever we like. Is it really TIME that we need to do whatever we like; whenever we like? Or a Forever Plan that takes us into the dimension of NOW in an instant? Whereas Inti is a very spiritual person living high in the mountains of Peru, my friend Shailen is an earthy, carefree kind of soul, living life in the fast lane in London and I was interested to hear how his point of view about Forever Plans may be different. I was struck by the similarity of wisdom displayed by both these friends from such diverse lifestyles and backgrounds when Shailen recounted his perceptions: “So many of us have grand master plans to achieve certain material goals by a certain age in our lives: to be married by the age of thirty; to own a 3 bedroom house by the age of 40; to be making over £100,000 per annum by the age of 45 or whatever it is....you can insert your own details....I sometimes wonder, what happens when we cross off all our goals? What are we left with when all those timed SMART goals are erased? What are we left with?” he asked. It is a common belief nowadays, although the ancient Egyptians believed differently, that we cannot take our material possessions with us when we die. What are the things that we CAN take with us? What can we take with us into the dimension of “Forever?” Perhaps it is the very things we can take with us into the dimension of “NOW”. My friend Thomas is committed to a vision. I reckon he has a “Forever Plan” to create millions of worldwide connections with “ a friend in every city”. That could take “Forever” you might think! Yes, it might just take “Forever” to manifest a vision of a world where every individual is connected and feels connected with every other soul. Who wants to be so connected? This question reminded me of people that get disconnected, cut off from, isolated from the people they once loved with no desire to reach out and form new connections to revitalise and replenish their channels of self-expression; I thought about struggles and wars where people would rather exterminate those that they cannot tolerate, accept or forgive rather than realise the deep connections which mean that destruction of the other results in annihilation of the self. So, I wondered how a Forever Plan to become not only connected with, but a FRIEND of every other soul in the Universe would become manifest with a true commitment to the vision. At this point I asked MYSELF the question: How does today fit in with MY Forever Plan? And I decided to reach out today to at least one stranger who is a friend that I have not met yet! Every new friendship is like a river stream that with enough water to fuel its journey will eventually reach the Oceans where all streams seem to merge in a space of timelessness Forever and everything you thought you left behind is right there in front of you NOW; where the past becomes the future and Now becomes Forever. |
