160204b The Power of Being a Connector There are people in the business world, like Richard Branson and Bill Gates for example that are great “connectors”….some people refer to them as “hubs” or “key people”. What this means is that connecting with these people will enable you to gain access to a large network of people. How do you think they created these large networks around themselves? Power and influence come through adding value to people’s lives….when you add value with integrity and as an expression of who you are, it seems to make the person grow on a non-physical dimension and before they know it, they are influencing people they have never even met! So what is your sphere of influence? If you were to call an important meeting to discuss something of high significance, how many people would turn up just because you asked them to? This is an important question for all you entrepreneurs who are working quite independently most of the time….if you are not the CEO of a large corporate organisation and don’t have a captive audience, you still need to create your own network of allies and supporters. I created Ealing Ecademy, a private business club, a couple of months ago as a local branch of Thomas Power’s network of over 22,000 international members. |
