The Power of Creative Intelligence

One of my favourite mind power heroes is Tony Buzan the author of some great personal development books. I have taken another look at his The Power of Creative Intelligence book which reminds us that we can ALL learn to be creative geniuses if we really have the desire to develop our creative potential which unfortunately most of us don’t…..it requires too much effort for the masses….we all want to be creative artists like Leonardo da Vinci and master musicians like Beethoven…..but few are willing to put in the effort required to make that a reality for themselves. Tony Buzan, like most modern personal development teachers and coaches, advocates the art of imitation, called modelling in NLP terms…and merely “copying” by the lay person! J  “Copying” just seems to make it so simple ….is that all we have to do, to be like our best role models? Copy them? Yes!J 

First of all you have to be clear about what your strongest desire is…what is it that you want to cultivate in yourself? Then, find someone worth copying and find out exactly how they achieve their results….this includes not only what they do externally, for example how long they work and how they communicate with others….but also…perhaps even more importantly, find out what they do internally…what do they think, believe and feel about whatever it is that you want to achieve.

Buzan suggests that some of our teachers may have taught us that this kind of “copy-cat” strategy is in fact “cheating” and that we should create our own strategies in life….if you read The Power of Creative Intelligence you will find that our teachers must have been wrong to discourage us from copying because all the most famous creative artists, inventors and geniuses of our time modelled, or “copied” the strategies of masters before them. 

So reflect on who YOUR role models are….
