110704a Inertia vs Desire The greater the desire, the more power there is to break through the inertia of constant comfort. It is the energy unleashed by our strong desires that propels us into action. When there is a sense of urgency to satisfy our desire, as in situations of emergency, our state of mind becomes powerfully alert and we seem to get access to a source of energy that could move mountains. We read stories about mothers who have lifted trucks to save their children getting crushed underneath and thirsty people who have walked miles through a scorching desert in search of water....these are examples of raw desire. The state of mind with clear focus and strong intention created by raw desire produces a force of energy that wipes out all obstacles and propels us forward until our needs are satisfied: our child is safe at last; or we have quenched our thirst. Raj S has a Jaguar and a girlfriend called Cindy. My guess is that he would lose both if he failed to maintain his millionaire lifestyle J (he was rude to me too remember J) It seems that we are more motivated (have a greater desire for) protecting ourselves from the pain of loss than taking action in order to gain pleasure. For Raj, a millionaire lifestyle is the basis of his survival; for me a millionaire lifestyle is a luxury that I enjoy when I am with my friends or chilling out in Hawaii pretending to be a millionaire! J (only in my head) Being a millionaire is a state of mind....step 1 in becoming one (if you are not already) is to ask yourself what you would gain or what could you protect yourself from losing if you had a million pounds. If you don't have much to gain ....not much to lose....keep on buying the lottery ticket, just for fun.JJ A basic starter book on the "millionaire" path is "One Minute Millionaire" by Hansen & Allen. Let me know what you think of it if you have read it or when you have read it. |
